When people talk about latex, they usually refer to Dunlop latex. Dunlop is a popular choice among mattress manufacturers due to its affordability and lower production costs.

THE DIFFERENCE LIES IN THE PRODUCTION PROCESS, COMFORT, AND DURABILITY. Dunlop and Talalay are not types of material but methods used to process latex into a final product. Both methods can result in a completely natural material suitable for sleep products. However, most Dunlop latex producers use raw material that contains only about 20% natural rubber tree milk.

100% NATURAL TALALAY LATEX is produced using a specific process. Natural latex is poured into molds that are not completely filled, allowing the material to expand. The mold is then vacuum-sealed to ensure even distribution of the latex. After that, the latex is flash-frozen to stabilize the structure and then vulcanized through heating, which gives it its elasticity and durability.

UNLIKE DUNLOP LATEX, which is poured into molds and then simply baked without freezing, the Talalay process creates an open-cell structure, resulting in greater breathability, softness, and better adaptability to the body. Dunlop latex is denser, firmer, and less elastic, while Talalay offers more comfort and better temperature regulation. Being more expensive and complex to produce, Talalay latex makes up only 10% of the world’s latex production, making it a highly valuable material.
